This will hopefully inspire some students to turn in some stuff that is good to win, and we should have more than enough material to make 4 editions this year.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[{"id":"26721937","body":"I remember this idea, and despite the fact that Zim and I came up with it (I think someone else was involved in the conversation as well when the idea was pitched) I see a few issues with it.

\nFirst off, any extra reward beyond recognition and a secure spot in the magazine would have to be paid for out of our pockets, and at the moment, we can't afford to do that.
\n
\nSecond, unless you are in MadScribes... MAdScribbler is kind of an odd title. (The good thing is that they don't need to be titled anything, so this isn't actually an issue.)

\nI would like for this to motivate people, but I don't think it will if it is every month. If we do this every month, it could
\nA) Get old fast
\nB) Become so ordinary that people lose interest... fast.

\nI would make it quarterly. When we have about two thirds of our content, we should announce this, that way it seems new and stays fresh.

\nMorning announcements are beginning to lose their zing, well the videos are.
\n
\nAnyone remember how last year whenever there was a video before the announcements people would actually listen? Well, suddenly videos before the announcements became way too common to the point where I have noticed people ignoring them too.

\nWe need to think of a new way to get information like this out. We can still utilize the announcements, but we need some other form of informing people.
\n
\nI'll talk to the office about possibly making an announcements during lunches (but we would need a student to do it who is willing to speak on the microphone. If a principal does, we know a lot of kids will not listen).

\nA quarterly competition sounds more reasonable than one that occurs monthly. It gives people time to write, and it gives us time to gather material. The winner could be announced in that quarter's issue of the magazine.

\nAlso, some teachers don't bother with the morning announcements.
